How a Personal Numerology Reading Is Calculated

Birth-date values
Life Path, Birthday, and Personal Year
The Life Path adds every digit in the full birth date, then reduces the total. The Birthday number uses the calendar day. The Personal Year adds the birth month and day to the current calendar year, so it changes as the larger cycle changes.
SoulNumber preserves 11, 22, and 33 when one of those values appears as the final Life Path total. The Personal Year is reduced to 1 through 9 because it describes a repeating nine-year cycle.

Name values
Expression, Soul Urge, and Personality
Every letter is converted to a number. The total of all letters produces the Expression number, sometimes called the Destiny number. Vowels produce the Soul Urge number, and consonants produce the Personality number.
The First Name number uses only the first name. The Maturity number combines Life Path and Expression, creating another lens for how core themes may develop over time.

Worked example
A transparent fictional calculation
For the fictional name Maya Vale, the letter values total 26, which reduces to Expression 8. The vowels total 8, producing Soul Urge 8. The consonants total 18, producing Personality 9.
For the fictional birth date July 16, 1992, the digits total 35 and reduce to Life Path 8. In calendar year 2026, the month, day, and year digits total 24, producing Personal Year 6. These values can then be compared for reinforcement and tension.
Interpretation
Why a complete reading is not eight isolated definitions
The value of a complete profile comes from synthesis. Repeated numbers may amplify a theme. Contrasting numbers may describe an inner tension, such as needing independence while also valuing harmony and responsibility.
A focused reading then asks how that combined pattern may appear in the area the reader selected. The focus changes the question being explored, not the underlying numbers.
